Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Advantage, or Medicare Part C, allows Medicare beneficiaries to receive all their Original Medicare covered benefits through a private health plan. All the private health plans are required to have at least the same benefits at Original Medicare, but most include additional benefits. Those additional benefits are beyond those included in Medicare Part A and Part B, such as prescription drug coverage, dental and vision coverage, and other benefits. I offer an analysis that will help you predict the cost of your drugs.

Medicare Supplement Plans

Medicare Supplements, or Medigap Plans, are offered by private insurance companies. These plans provide supplemental benefits to fill gaps in Original Medicare coverage such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Medigap plans offer combinations of benefits, including foreign travel emergency expenses and preventive care. I offer an analysis that will help you predict the cost of your drugs.

Special Needs Plans

Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNP): These plans serve people who have both Medicare and Medicaid benefits (also known as “dual eligibles”). Extra Help is a federal program that helps pay for some to most of the out-of-pocket costs of Medicare prescription drug coverage. It is also known as the Part D Low-Income Subsidy (LIS).

Medicare beneficiaries can qualify for Extra Help with their Medicare prescription drug plan costs. The Extra Help is estimated to be worth about $5,000 per year. To qualify for the Extra Help, a person must be receiving Medicare, have limited resources and income, and reside in one of the 50 States or the District of Columbia.
